1. Re: Need custom DataSource to support internal password serv
peterj Apr 27, 2007 4:15 PM (in response to mamsterla)This login that you mention, is this for logging into a database when a connection is made? Or is it for logging in a user when the user accesses an application? If the later, then you probably want to develop a custom login module and add it to the server/xxx/conf/login-config.xml file. Examples of login modules can be found at security/src/main/org/jboss/security/auth/spi in the source.

2. Re: Need custom DataSource to support internal password serv
mamsterla Apr 27, 2007 4:17 PM (in response to mamsterla)It is for logging into a database - that is why I want to use a DataSource of some type.
It looks like there must be some way to write an MBean that would be loaded by the RARDeployer, but I would love some advice.

3. Re: Need custom DataSource to support internal password serv
peterj Apr 27, 2007 4:27 PM (in response to mamsterla)JBoss uses the *-ds.xml file to generate (via xslt, I think) around 5 (depends on the *-ds.xml contents) MBeans to handle the datasource, and it is those MBeans that manage the connections. You would have to change/extend the conversion mechanism to generate MBeans implemented by your classes, which probably extend the current set of classes. Seems like an interesting, but probably doable, challenge.

4. Re: Need custom DataSource to support internal password serv
mamsterla Apr 27, 2007 4:33 PM (in response to mamsterla)What if I created a RAR file for my implementation. It looks like the RAR file allows for the specification of the parameters for Resource adapter configuration and the factory class. Is this the way to go?

5. Re: Need custom DataSource to support internal password serv
peterj Apr 27, 2007 4:37 PM (in response to mamsterla)Sorry, but I have never created a RAR so I don't know how easy it would be. Though I imagine that some might consider using a RAR to be a cleaner implementation.
