1. Re: scheduled service not running after porting to 4.2.2
jaikiran May 9, 2008 6:41 AM (in response to andrewthio)I haven't tried out the scheduler service in JBoss. But from what i have read in the documentation http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/jboss/jboss-eap-4.2/doc/Server_Configuration_Guide/Scheduling_Tasks-org.jboss.varia.scheduler.Scheduler_.html, do you actually required this in the scheduler service xml? Some of the examples, i have seen don't mention anything about this.
<depends> <mbean code="javax.management.timer.Timer" name="jboss:service=MyServiceTimer"/> </depends>
And if you need that dependency, then shouldn't the Timer be configured to send out periodic notifications as mentioned at http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/jboss/jboss-eap-4.2/doc/Server_Configuration_Guide/Additional_Services-The_Timer_Service.html -

andrewthio May 10, 2008 7:34 AM (in response to andrewthio)Jaikran,
thanks for the repy.
i'm not sure about this (as it was done by my predecessor) but I think the depends timer is to allow redeployments. see
http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Scheduler
On the timer config, yes, I also read that in the manual. But the deployment in 4.01 didnt seem to have these settings. also when i tried uncommenting " This example shows how to use a target MBean " portion of scheduler-service.xml, example worked fine and didnt seem to need additional reconfig.
By the way, I also tried removing the timer depend but the service (though deployed) also doesnt seem to run.
I'd appreciate any further suggestions/insights that you might have on my problem. -

andrewthio May 10, 2008 10:44 PM (in response to andrewthio)Hi Everyone
Seems that the problem is due to a corruption with the SAR file.
thanks for your help :)
