Hopefully I found the correct sub-forum in which to post my question (there were a ton of them, forums, that is).

I have only one question, and that is I need some assistance in trying to figure out how to troubleshoot a problem.

I inherited a jboss application and have followed the directions provided to me. I have apache running on port 80 just fine. I have jboss-4.2.3.GA-jdk6 installed and running on port 8080.

I can compile and deploy my web application via "ant ear" just fine.

I start jboss, and everything _looks_ fine. I can provide my output and the log if needed (I just didn't want to flood the forum with this if it wasn't necessary.

When I browse to http://localhost:8009/myproj, the browser seems to just sit and try to load the thing.

The output from jboss shows:

ERROR [AjpMessage] Invalid message recieved with signature 18245

I am not sure even where to start looking.

Can anyone help?

You should be using the HTTP port (8080 by default):

OK... so I go here:

and that gives me a:

So I wrongly diagnosed my problem. From what I can tell, there must be a config file somewhere that is not correct. Any ideas where I can start looking?

Since you are deploying the .war within the .ear, the web context root is specified in the application.xml. You can then use that context root to access the application. What does your applicaiton.xml look like? And just to make sure, your application is being deployed correctly, please post the console logs (not the server log).

I don't see your application being deployed. Have you placed it in /opt/jboss/server/myproj/deploy folder?

I am looking into this now, but I must be under the wrong assumption as to what needs to be moved from my dev location into the server depoly location.

After doing a bit of googling, I have figured out that my myproj.war file is missing the WEB-INF/config-struts.xml file.

So, is this a matter of getting ant to put it in there, or do I do this manually?

Now, what I ended up having to do was to add a bunch of xml files from my workingfolder/trunk/conf to the myproj.war file manually.

As my last question on this thread -- what is the correct or desired way to get the necessary files into the myproj.war file, given that I am using Ant?

You can use the Ant war task http://ant.apache.org/manual/CoreTasks/war.html
