    docs on clustering

    andrius

      hey,

I am kind of curious to find out how clustering in jboss is implemented, but sadly couldn't find any docs on that (might be I haven't looked hard enough though ;-) ). I am pretty positive I could just dig it up from the source, but if someone who wrote it laid out the main concepts, this would make it so much easier. thanks in advance!

btw, why is posting to the newsgroup disabled?

          First step found in JBOSS-3.0.6 + jdk1.4.1:
In JBOSS_HOME/server/default/db/hypersonic live 3 files: default.data, default.properties and default.script after the first up-start of JBOSS and before executing any project.
i- copy these 3 files to a directory say hypersonic_backup
ii- execute a project for instance examples 4-1 a and b in the workbook. A second try to execute delivers the errors as mentioned in the book.
          iii- bring JBOSS down
          iv- empty the directory JBOSS_HOME/server/default/db/hypersonic
v- copy the original 3 files from hypersonic_backup to JBOSS_HOME/server/default/db/hypersonic
          vi- start jboss again
vii- execute again examples 4-1 a and b, without any problem.

HOW-TO put all this in an entry "clean.db" in the (a) build.xml?

          Good-bye!

            Hello Andrius,

You will be able to buy the full documentation very shortly from Flashline:
            http://www.jboss.org/doco.jsp

It also contains architectural descriptions of the clustering.

            Cheers,

            Sacha

Because NNTP from jive is unstable and doesn't work well.

too bad, prefer news to forums :) and what about 'watched' conversations? I assumed that if I mark the topic as watched, and I have
'Always email me watch update notices: ' set to true, I should get the notification per email, right?

thanks, I might do that when I need to use it - but as this is more of a casual interest, I will probably find it out from the code ;-)

don't get me wrong, I can afford myself to buy it, and you bet my free time is expensive ;) but:
                        1) I don't have a CC with which I could pay via internet - we're stuck in a middle ages here.
                        2) I have to write a small doc about clustering approaches in j2ee, so jboss is just one of the topics
                        3) I have to finish it till next wednesday, and I suppose this will take a while to appear on flashline

                        regards,

hey, I still remember when jboss was still ejboss 0.5 or smth, and I've followed the mailing lists since then, had a couple of projects running on it, made my company dump one pretty expensive commercial server in favour of jboss, etc. and I did spend quite a lot of time looking into the code, so I am more or less confident that I will find out what I want ;)

what is SHORTLY? i'm interested in buying the docs and to be frank it's an urgent case :)

when are the docs supposed to be available?

                            best regards,

Sorry for that, the doc price is now 10$ but jboss web site has not been updated.
