1. Re: Clustering performance slow on 3.2.0beta2
slaboure Feb 1, 2003 9:49 AM (in response to auswalk)Are your SLSB clustered? are you sure they are SLSB and not SFSB? Can you see something strange at the network level (high bandwith usage or something like this)?
Interesting anyway. Keep me informed, I am interested in what is happening.
Cheers,

2. Re: Clustering performance slow on 3.2.0beta2
auswalk Feb 2, 2003 2:46 AM (in response to auswalk)Well I'm just running in "all" mode with the default cluster-service.xml. Currently 2 jboss servers in cluster.
Yes they are all SLSB, no SFSB. All the client remote calls are all within the same VLAN at 100mb ethernet.
I haven't done any network diagnosis, if I do what should I be looking for specifically?

3. Re: Clustering performance slow on 3.2.0beta2
slaboure Feb 3, 2003 11:38 AM (in response to auswalk)For example, use a network scanner for example to see what travels over the wire, check with traceroute through where do the packets travel, etc. I suspect there is a LAN issue, calling a SLSB cannot take 5 seconds, no way!

4. Re: Clustering performance slow on 3.2.0beta2
auswalk Feb 5, 2003 11:38 AM (in response to auswalk)Question. There is a local director switch on this VLAN we have. It's very slow, it takes maybe 2-5 seconds to reply. Is it possible that somehow the clustering recognitions algorithms would slow down b/c there is a very slow machine on its subnet?

5. Re: Clustering performance slow on 3.2.0beta2
slaboure Feb 6, 2003 12:11 PM (in response to auswalk)hard to say like this. What is the goal of this local director?

6. Re: Clustering performance slow on 3.2.0beta2
auswalk Feb 6, 2003 12:21 PM (in response to auswalk)It's a hardware load balancer for http requests to a web site. It just redirects to one of the non local directed IP's based on some performance algorithm. It takes 2-5 seconds to actually redirect.

7. Re: Clustering performance slow on 3.2.0beta2
dtauzell Feb 10, 2003 12:43 PM (in response to auswalk)What load balancer are you using? I've never seen a 2-5 second time for the redirect with either Cisco's LocalDirector or BigIP. Just curious.

8. Re: Clustering performance slow on 3.2.0beta2
slaboure Feb 11, 2003 6:24 AM (in response to auswalk)Yes, I agree, my feeling at this point is that this is non-jboss related and that you really have a network-config or LB-config problem
cheers,
