What OS to use?

We are looking to deploy on RedHat 9. Question is, I see there is the normal free ISO set, and then for $2500 you can buy the AS version that provides a clustered high availability setup. If JBoss provides this already, is it a good idea to use the AS setup of RedHat as well? It seems a bit overkill. What do some of you who cluster JBoss/Jetty use for the OS, and how is it configured?

You don't need the AS thing (except if you need their support, etc.) Straight JBoss is fine.

Yeah, I figured as much. So does RH 9 work fine? I'll be finding out soon, but do you know of any issues at this point?

Also, when will JDK 1.4.2 work with JBoss 3.2.x? I know its still beta, just wondering when we can move to 1.4.2 when it comes out with JBoss. Supposedly there are a lot of fixes and some server-side improvements.

RH 9 has a kernel with backported threading support from the 2.5.X devlopment kernel. I suppose this makes it the best Linux distro for Java applications today. I don't know if EA has the same threading features.
I run Sun 1.4.1_03 with no problems, and just found out that the latest IBM 1.4.1 runs as well.
