Forcing a CMB to maintain current Cache if there is a DB fai

All,
I have a situation where I am using optiond to refresh periodically a CMB which is a small set of lookup values (read-only). What I would like to do is to configure the system not to overwrite an existing CMP's contents if a SQLException is thrown when refreshing the CMB. Is this possible?
