            Hello Juha,

I am looking for the same kind of information for the JBoss licensing for my company and I saw your reply in the forum. Can you help me with that? I need to find where does it indicate in JBoss web site about the license of LGPL. And what does mean LGPL license for JBoss for an enterprise? Can the company resell or distribute it with its own software? And how much does it cost for an enterprise production?

Can you reply me as soon as possible? Because I need it for my boss.

            Thank you very much,

            Ying Su

The LGPL license is explained on the Free Software Foundation website (http://www.fsf.org). You should also consult your own lawyers to fully understand the implications of using LGPL licensed software. There is no cost for enterprise production systems. Distribution is allowed as long as the conditions detailed in the LGPL license are met.

                  Thanks for your reply.

We are currently using JBoss 3.2.1 for development purpose. I was trying to find the information of LGPL in the jar we downloaded and I could not. Could you tell me where I can get the LGPL license information in JBoss?

You can read the LGPL license here: http://www.fsf.org/licenses/licenses.html#LGPL

I'm a little confused about the LGPL. I would like to use the JMX microkernal, and some choice services, but do not want to distribute the entire application. To do this, I would like to make changes to the configuration files, and mabey the directory structure. I would also like to remove unneeded services, and add my own services. Do these changes make my application LGPL? Note that I will not be changing any of the binaries/recompiling, but may remove some of the jar files that my application does not need.

I think in general people understand the modification to mean modification of the source code. If you decide to not distribute some default services in JBoss does not mean your application would have to use the same license.
