Kilo Lines of Code

Hello people,
I was just wondering about the number of Lines of Jboss, and maybe even better how many Man-Months work is the Jboss 3.0 version worth. (I wanna start a new project from scratch and compete with JBoss :) It is quite hard to estimate since there are more then 99 ppl actively involved, and the number has changed dramatically lately. And do people start from scratch? Or is it ok to copy some code snipsets from here and there (no legal jargon, just wanna know the case of JBoss)
Any idea ??

Why don't you contribute to JBoss or even the Apache Geronimo project instead of starting from scratch?

I was just kidding my friend.. The smily after compete with Jboss was supposed to make it clear.. Just for curiosity, did anyone estimate the work done for JBOss? or used a software to count the number of code lines. ??
