Displaying results very slow over internet on web page.

Hi,
This is strange problem. I am using JBoss RC3 and Oracle 9iAS as servlet container and Oracle8i database. I can access the web site very well and everything works fine in local intranet and internet. But the problem is when I am getting 500 rows data from simple table to display on to the web page. If you access the site from out side the network, takes about 1 min, and in local intranet it takes about 5 sec from the same server. If it is more data, it takes more time over the internet, but not in the local intranet. All the code is developed in EJB2 CMP.
Appreciate your help in resolving this issue.

well, 500 rows of data would produce a large page that would take a while to download. The smaller the page the quicker the download. Obviously on a local network download time is pretty much instant so no difference

What is happening now is, after downloading entire data on to the page, then it is displaying the data. Is there any way to display the results as and when it gets the part of the data?

I am using JSP page to display the results from bean.

Are presenting those 500+ rows in a html table?

I remember reading that IE will only render tables when it finds the closing tag for the table.
