ECPerf Tests on boxes

We are considering using a variety of EJB containers for our project and JBoss is among them. It is one of the two leaders we are considering. It is somewhat concerning that there are no ECPerf performance criteria for it.

In a few months when we get more boxes around here I will be installing ECPerf and comparing it to other products. At that point I will add to the bottom of the list various performance statics I ascertain. I will also add any tweaks I find to make JBoss faster.

In the interum if you have been playing with ECPerf pop the information on your configuration together with the results as a reply to this message.

Hopefully we can get a feel for speed issues before JBoss gets around to doing an ECPerf test. Possibly if someone has a big enough box they can help JBoss get some results onto theserverside.

Sounds like we are thinking similarly. How hard is it to setup and run the ECPerf tests?

We have several setups which we would like to test on. We have a test/dev setup composed of SunE280R Sunfires. We will be running Oracle DB on the same node. However, we have a deployment system which puts the DB on dual 880s and 4 280s for the app servers, so we ought to be able to do some significant tests.

I'll start looking at he ECPerf site, but any pointers would be very good.

We have rolled some home grown tests where we have JBoss running about a third the spped of Oracle AS. This was a simple stateless bean invocation with null op, spread over several clients. So I would like to get to the bottom of the problem.

Well, Csiro setup seems to be for JBoss 2.4.x only.
Has anyone succeeded on getting it ro run on 3.x also?
