Controls underneath a suggestionbox

Hello there... I have a suggestion box that is working well, and under it I have a selectOneMenu. After I have chosen a value for the suggestion box I cannot immediately choose an item in my select one menu unless I click another control elsewhere then go back to my menu. This is a problem that appears just in IE (version 6). I guess it's to do with IE6's way of handling DIV elements with drop downs?! Does anyone know a way around this please?
