2. Re: restart database invalidates datasource
pedrosalazar Oct 6, 2003 11:35 AM (in response to pedrosalazar)Adrian, It doesn't work!
I put that entry after the connection pool parameters and it still returns invalid connections for while until the connection pool has only valid connections.
I have JBOSS 3.2.1 (if it matters).
Any suggestion? Something must be wrong because it's ignoring the <check-valid-connection-sql/>.
BTW: where did you find the DTD for the datasource elements?
thanks,
Pedro Salazar. -

5. Re: restart database invalidates datasource
adrian.brock Oct 7, 2003 5:31 AM (in response to pedrosalazar)That looks ok.
Can you turn on TRACE for org.jboss.resource in conf/log4j.xml
Also, can you try it with jboss-3.2.2RC4 (I added some more
some informative error reporting in the event that the sql
fails to run)

pedrosalazar Oct 7, 2003 8:27 AM (in response to pedrosalazar)Adrian,
I haven't yet the jboss-3.2.2RC4 but I will get it. Meanwhile, I put here the trace of the org.jboss.resource category in DEBUG.
I restart the oracle RAC instances and I make a request to web service that uses the oracle datasource connection.
Only after the first connection throws the SQLException in each JBOSS instances, I retrieve a valid connection.
thanks,

7. Re: restart database invalidates datasource
adrian.brock Oct 7, 2003 8:52 AM (in response to pedrosalazar)So it is not returning invalid connectins.
The debug shows it destroyed the invalid connections.
It is saying it couldn't get any new connections after it destroyed
the invalid ones.
TNS is down.

8. Re: restart database invalidates datasource (SOLVED)
pedrosalazar Oct 7, 2003 9:28 AM (in response to pedrosalazar)Adrian,
I already figured out what could be the problem. Aparently it may be a problem in the Oracle cluster (RAC), because I'm getting some failures even with SQLPLUS when I connect to the RAC.
So, I tried to connect to just one oracle instance in the RAC (SID=ora1) instead to connect to the RAC itself (SERVICE_NAME=ora), and it works just fine.
This is definitly a problem on my Oracle RAC and not in the connection pool on JBOSS.
thanks for all your assistance,
Best regards,
Pedro Salazar.
