how do I update the table without refreshing the whole page?

now I have a table and a button "add", click on the "add" button will bring up a dialog to fill in some fields, then OK will close the dialog and add a new row to the table.

Now I refresh the main window (the opener) to show the new data. Any better way?

Place your table inside div or span tag (for example, h:panelGroup) and set it's id manually.

Use ajax4jsf commandButton component to close your dialog window. Set attibute reRender as id of parent table component. Set limitToList as true.

This works fine.

I tried it, and it didn't work. I kind of suspect that the 2 windows make it not working. Since I am trying to rerender a component in a different window.

Any way I can do this?

For me reRendering from the modalPanel whole dataTable works fine. Describe your precise environment and pages.

Here is my main window, I have a link to launch a new window and a table.
