ejbActivate not called

Hi All
I wrote an entity bean and deployed it.
My client program is able to find it using findByPrimaryKey().
Now when i try to invoke my business methods it is not working i found that ejbActivate() method is also not called what could be the problem.
I using jboss and db2.
