Trying to convince mgmt. Jboss have prebuilt components?

BEA has a full catalog of prebuilt components/EJBs (shipped in their Commerce Server edition), and likewise in their personalization server and portal server.

How does Jboss compare with this? Doesn't it mean that many of us are all rebuilding the same core components?

I think that the JBoss guys have decided to go for the things more clearly connected to the server itself and not have addons like the commercial servers. (As an aside they probably need to have such stuff to differtiate from free app servers).

There seems to be a lot of open source portal solutions around that might do what you need if you need that kind of stuff.

On the other hand, if you are developing applications that don't fit in with the portal/commerse patterns chosen by BEA you might not be helped by having their components anyway :-)
