restarting jboss with deployed ear

hi all,
i've got a hibernate .sar and an application .ear file deployed on jboss (jboss3.2.1). they both deploy and work correctly.
however, if i restart jboss with these still deployed i get various errors, basically saying that they are loaded in the incorrect order (ie, the .ear requires the .sar to be loaded first)
is there any way to ensure jboss loads these in a particular order or a way to specify that the .ear is dependent on the .sar being loaded??

Why is the sar loaded after the ear?

Try making the ear deployer depend on
the mbean inside the sar.

don't know why the .sar isn't loaded first.

as for making the ear deployer dependent on the sar that is the question i'm asking ;-)
how do i do that? i'm using xdoclet to generate all my descriptors but can't see anything obvious to do it.
