detecting shutdown

I have written a MBean which polls another process in an interval say 30 sec.
When I stop the jboss server 3.2.0, the shutdown hangs for the remaining timeout of that Mbean.
How can I detect that a shutdown is in progress?

I believe you can add a shutdownhook similar to what jboss has implemented to detect a shutdown. Look in ServerImpl.java for shutdownHook class.
