JAVA need a DISPLAY value

Who can help:

Our java application needs an X-Dislpay to show a jpeg on Client browser.
the application is running well if i started it in a XTerm with his one DISPLAY value but when I want to start it as root in the background,
java creates an error like follows:

java.lang.InternalError: Can't connect to X11 window server using '10.22.11.106:1.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.
...

A export of a Display Value in the rc-script does not work.

Add the following VM option in your startup script:

-Djava.awt.headless=true

Works fine with JDK 1.4.2
