3. Re: JBoss startup errors
sparrez Feb 2, 2006 6:39 PM (in response to sparrez)Hmmm
Just did a fresh install using the jboss-4.0.3SP1-installer.jar file, this didn't help
The one i used before was just an extracted zip. Can it be something else
Link to error dump http://sparrez.dk/files/jboss-error2.txt only ~1500 lines this time :) but that's probably due to the smaller install size -
4. Re: JBoss startup errors
hakucho Feb 5, 2006 6:00 PM (in response to sparrez)Looks like Tomcat is having trouble starting up .... there's also an error about badly-formed XML files. I don't use Tomcat (I use Jetty), but if Tomcat uses any XML config files and you've edited them, check you haven't accidentally broken their "well-formedness".
A handy troubleshooting technique when JBoss doesn't start up properly is to shut it down, pull the suspect artifact(s) out of the deploy folder, and start it up again. If you get no errors, one of the things you pulled out has a problem deploying. If you do get errors, either you left behind something that doesn't deploy properly, or you pulled out something that's required by something you left behind.
For a good explanation of what can safely be pulled out, see:

5. Re: JBoss startup errors
sparrez Feb 6, 2006 4:14 AM (in response to sparrez)I managed to get JBoss up and running by removing the DOCTYPE decleration from the web.xml files in the artifacts deployed on startup.
But when trying to get JBoss Portal up and running i ran in to a bunch of new problems, but thats beeing handled in another forum, hopefully.
