3. Re: how to access a remote JBoss server
jaikiran Jun 15, 2007 5:55 PM (in response to ddai)Great :) Then we know what the issue is. From the README of this version of JBoss:
JBossAS now binds its services to localhost (127.0.0.1) *by default*, instead of binding to all available interfaces (0.0.0.0). This was primarily done for security reasons because of concerns of users going to production without having secured their servers properly. To enable remote access by binding JBoss services to a particular interface, simply run jboss with the -b option, but be aware you still need to secure you server properly.
You can start JBoss using:run -b dsi-dev10
or if you want to switch back to the behaviour of earlier versions just runrun -b 0.0.0.0

4. Re: how to access a remote JBoss server
ddai Jun 15, 2007 6:05 PM (in response to ddai)Are you saying I start the JBoss server on machine dsi-dev10 by typing :
run -b dsi-dev10 in the console command?
Then I can type in the browser of my own machine: http://dsi-dev10:8080/application to run it?
Thanks -
5. Re: how to access a remote JBoss server
jaikiran Jun 15, 2007 6:10 PM (in response to ddai)Yes, thats correct. You will have to start the JBoss server(on dsi-dev10) using
run -b dsi-dev10
and then you can access your application from another machine which has access to dsi-dev10 using the url: http://dsi-dev10:8080/application -

Please provide more details about what you are trying to do? And what exceptions (if any) you are seeing? -
8. Re: how to access a remote JBoss server
jaikiran Jul 16, 2007 3:37 PM (in response to ddai)Also, i would suggest you create a new topic instead of replying to this one, because if it's not related to JBoss 4.2, then this is not the correct thread to discuss that.

9. Re: how to access a remote JBoss server
frank1russo Nov 21, 2007 9:45 AM (in response to ddai)I'm using 4.2.1.GA, but this is not working for me. I can still only access my dev server as localhost. I tried both the 0.0.0.0 and the hostname option, but neither worked.

10. Re: how to access a remote JBoss server
jaikiran Nov 22, 2007 12:23 AM (in response to ddai)How did you start JBoss? What are the parameters that you passed? And when you say, it did not work, what happened? Did it throw any exceptions? Or was it a blank page?
