IP address

hi,
why I can't open the web page use ip address sometimes.
eg:jboss 4.2.0.ga , 4.2.2 ga or 5.0.0bate4 use zip and run in windowns xp
only can open web page with http://localhost:8080
but for jboss 4.0.2,I can use http://<my ip>:8080.
Is it must use parameter like this: run -b 0.0.0.0, and why?

Yeah,

Jboss binds itself to localhost by default,

If you want, you must set the binding parameter and specify the IP you would like JBOSS to listen to (this is relevant to many JBOSS services, 0.0.0.0 meaning all available IPs),

I guess this is mainly for security reasons :)
