Starting problem

Hi all,

I'm a spanish newbie so, sorry for my english and inexperience.

I've installed Jboss 4.2.2.GA (jboss-4.2.2.GA.zip)

I've installed jdk1.6.0_05.

All of that is under CentOS 5.

When I Start JBoss, server runs ok (i think) but i cant reach it from other computer.

I see Jboss in localhost (http://localhost:8080)

I start Jboss with ./run.sh -b 0.0.0.0

This is the start info.

Have you opened port 8080 in your firewall?

I have the following ports open: 8080, 1099, 1098, 4444, 4445

I think I was opened them.

Whatever, I have opened it again.

The problem is the same.

I have been looking for manuals and guides, i follow them but the problem goes on.

check your hosts file on the server.
It may well contain a faulty line linking localhost to your actual LAN ip address rather than 127.0.0.1

And make sure you call the server from other systems with its real address, not with "http://localhost:8080" (you'd be astounded when you see how often that's the reason people can't find their own servers from elsewhere in their networks).

Based on this line of output:

JBossAS successfully opened port 8080 and will accept requests from anywhere. If it doesn't then there is some issue beyond the control of JBossAS.

I don't use CentOS, I use Fedora and Ubuntu. On both I would check /etc/sysconfig/iptables to make sure I opened the ports and on Fedora I would also check the SELinux settings because SELinux is sometimes overeager in keeping my computer secure.

Maybe some out there using CentOS can provide some input?

I have add this line in /etc/sysconfig/iptables


File /etc/hosts contains:

I dont know what is ::1. Its in file when i edited it the first time... :S

The SELinux is disabled and firewall is enabled

Miracle!!!!!

I have startd Jboss Server...


The problem was that I was triying to start server with root profile and the Jboss owner is jboss profile.

If i start with jboss profile i can see jboss server.

Just FYI, the ::1 is the IPv6 equivalent of 127.0.0.1 in IPv4.
