No JBossAS configuration changes are necessary - you are essentially writing your own service. You should package your service in a sar file, and provide a *-service.xml file.
You are going to have to handle the protocol between the client and your service, JBossAS will not help you in this regard mainly because you are not using any of the existing Java EE services that JBossAS provides. -
