1. Re: new to JBOSS .. need some help
peterj Apr 16, 2009 5:17 PM (in response to iinfi)Here are two classes that might be of interest:
https://www.redhat.com/courses/jb336_jboss_for_administrators/
https://www.redhat.com/courses/jb336c_jboss_administration_without_jboss_on/
There are also the JBoss AS docs at https://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-12898
Finally, there is a lot of advice to be found in these forums and in the wiki.
By the way, which JBoss AS version will you be working with? -
2. Re: new to JBOSS .. need some help
iinfi Apr 18, 2009 11:23 AM (in response to iinfi)thank you peter.
i had a look at these course. i also want to know, for a person who has very limited Java knowledge (limited to creating a few programs in college in j2ee) how difficult would learning and more so administering JBOSS servers be.
do i have to be a Java expert before starting to learn JBOSS? though all the pre-requisites say is (# Creating and expanding a Java archive file (the jar utility))
thank you -
3. Re: new to JBOSS .. need some help
bdill Apr 19, 2009 3:11 PM (in response to iinfi)If you aren't developing applications for JBoss, I would say the required core Java knowledge is minimal. Most of the important administrative functionality is configured through XML and other non-Java methods. The JBoss documentation will make more sense to you with some J2EE knowledge and so some basic Java experience is necessary for that.
If you're interested in taking the Advanced JBoss class as some point (not the ones posted by PeterJ), you'll need to have a solid Java background, but this doesn't sound like your current interest. -
4. Re: new to JBOSS .. need some help
iinfi Apr 19, 2009 3:43 PM (in response to iinfi)thank you bdill .. i m a bit more confused now.
my boss wants me to take up this course so that i can manage and administer JBOSS.
i know things are not possible overnite. ...
so you mean to say that this course is just a basic introduction into Jboss administration. is it?
thanks
