    JBoos application server newbie problem

      Hey Folks,

      Newbie here.

I am trying to deloy a jsp app using JBoss version 5.0.0.CR2

I am running Windows vista with the firewall turned off

      i run

run -c all from a dos prompt

I can log onto the JBoos welcome page with no trouble & i see the welcome screen at the address http://localhost:8080/

but when i try run my jsp servlet using the following address http://localhost:8080/hello i get

      type Status report

      message /hello

description The requested resource (/hello) is not available.

I have copied my helloworld.ear in the C:\jboss\server\all\deploy

The helloworld.ear, contains the application.xml in the META-INF folder and also the wep-add.war which contains the index.jsp file

My application.xml file looks like this::::::::::::

      <?xml version="1.0"?>

      <display-name>Hello Java EE World!</display-name>

      <web-uri>web-app.war</web-uri>
      <context-root>/hello</context-root>

the following is the log output when i run jboss from dos, note there are some WARN logs

      Any help greatly appreciated

      Thanks

      /Rob

          peterj

First question: why are you running 5.0.0.CR2? You should be using 5.0.0.GA or 5.0.1.GA.

Second, use the 'code' tag to bracket xml text - otherwise the browser will attempt to render the tags. And use the Preview button to check the formatting before posting.

Finally, are you sure you place helloworld.ear in server/all/deploy? Because I don't see it being deployed.

          • 2. Re: JBoos application server newbie problem

            Thanks Peter fo your reply.
            Ok I will try 5.0.1.GA

would my applicationx.ml then have to look like the following?

            <?xml version="1.0"?>

            <display-name>Hello Java EE World!</display-name>
            <web-uri>web-app.war</web-uri>
            <context-root>/hello</context-root>

do i need the module & web tags here?
what exactly do I need to do wih the code tags?

Finally yes I have placed the helloworld.ear in the server/all/deploy directory

            Thanks
            /Rob

what exactly do I need to do wih the code tags?

When posting XML text or source code, please enclose the text in UBBCode "code" tags - you can do this by selecting the text and clicking the Code button above the editor window. Also, click the Preview button to ensure that the formatting is correct and the XML text shows up before posting.

The original application.xml file was correct.
