Embedding JBoss 5.0?

I'd like to run a miminal JBoss 5.0 installation in my unit tests, like you can do with OpenEJB as described here: http://openejb.apache.org/local-server.html

I know there was an effort at one point to do this via the Embedded JBoss project. I read in several locations around the web that this project was mothballed.
