15. Re: Standalone jboss-messaging without JBoss AS
arvinder Apr 18, 2006 4:53 AM (in response to arvinder)I'll take a look at what Ovidiu has done. Mark the last set of code i sent to you currently has an MBean wrapper onto the Microkernel bootstrapper, which means later on down the road, we simply remove the MBean. Anyway I'll follow the instructions and get back on this now that easter break is over.

16. Re: Standalone jboss-messaging without JBoss AS
arvinder Apr 18, 2006 3:57 PM (in response to arvinder)I brought the server up with the instructions that were provided and
everything on that side is fine. Deploying the stuff i did lastweek - an esb mbean with microkernel dep's fails - this is due to missing class which are present in 4.0.4.CR2 as opposed to 4.0.3.SP1.
I am going to work through these and include the missing classes/jars inside the esb sar. -

arvinder Apr 24, 2006 9:12 AM (in response to arvinder)I had some issues integrating the standalone messaging server and the use of the MC 1.0.2 (the latest release), for now I am using MC 1.0.1, but FYI please see as this may be something that is encountered when building messaing around the MC later.

arvinder Apr 27, 2006 6:55 AM (in response to arvinder)Ovidiu/Tim, do you need a hand at looking at a pure messaging pojo server ie standalone w/o jbossas ?

Does this mean I need to contribute to the MC code base due to dependance on MC Milestone 3 ? See http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=80660

21. Re: Standalone jboss-messaging without JBoss AS
adrian.brock Apr 27, 2006 7:26 AM (in response to arvinder)There is no such thing as Milestone 3 anymore.
And that roadmap was pre JBossMC 1.0.0 anyway,
the roadmap has long since changed, see JIRA or the WIKI.
The document you refer no longer exists in CVS. It looks like it is still
on the website from along time ago, I don't believe it is referenced
from anywhere else on the website anymore?
Why do you need JMX to test JBoss Messaging running
inside the Microcontainer?
There is already another thread on this issue where I showed
JBossMQ running inside a junit test.
All you need to do is to POJOise the services.
i.e. everything is just a POJO, any JMX stuff is just a thin layer that
delegates to the POJOs. In JBossMC2/JBoss5 you don't even need
to write that thin layer you use a "decorator".
The same approach will eventually be used for other cross cutting
(none JMS specific) stuff like JNDI bindings or socket server bindings, etc. -

24. Re: Standalone jboss-messaging without JBoss AS
arvinder May 8, 2006 5:04 PM (in response to arvinder)Hi Ovidiu/Tim
I have got a basic Messaging bootstrapper that wraps the MC
up and running. I am in the process of converting its dependant
services into pojo service wrappers that can be inserted into a
core messaging xml file.
I have partially integrated this into the top level build.xml
and am starting to add tests and have modified the tests/build.xml
So far I have the following
- A basic messaging pojo kernel with configuration file
up and running
- Pojo service wrapper for naming up and running
From looking at the code & ServiceContainer, AFAIK the following
services are required:
- naming/jndi
- transaction manager
- database / persistence
- jca
- remoting
- security manager
At some point I will upload the code + mods to Jira (which jira task?
JBMESSAGING-26 ?) or however/whereever you guys want it.
Thanks
arvinder -

ovidiu.feodorov May 10, 2006 6:45 PM (in response to arvinder)You didn't atach anything yet, did you?
Anyway, I am in Austin all this week, I will get the first chance to look at it next week when I return to base. -
27. Re: Standalone jboss-messaging without JBoss AS
arvinder May 15, 2006 9:03 AM (in response to arvinder)Ack! Sorry, had a busy week! I'll attach what I have done so far,
but will continue coding to see how far I get. I'll do this when I
get home this evening. -
28. Re: Standalone jboss-messaging without JBoss AS
arvinder May 15, 2006 5:11 PM (in response to arvinder)I have added the relevant starter code for standalone messaging based on the MC. Please comment/flame etc, whether this is in the right direction. I had a query regarding the TransactionManager, but this can wait.
Sorry for the delay, have been busy lately .. -

arvinder Jun 20, 2006 10:22 AM (in response to arvinder)Tim/Ovidiu
When you get some time, can you comment on the files uploaded as part of
http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBMESSAGING-26 as I want to drop another set of files to move this forward.
thanks
