We include what we get. Do you provide the examples in the maven2 distribution?

You *cannot* do that. Once a release is tagged and uploaded to the maven2 repository, it's writen in stone you cannot go back and change it because the artifacts are already downloaded and cached by others.

If you want to make changes you create a *new* release (SP1, 1.4.2, etc.)

We had changed the AS build to compenstate for the error, that was enough. Now you'll have some environments with the old resources cached and some with the new ones...

To be fair, I've been informed it wasn't Howard's error here.

It was the person whom we gave the files to, to upload to Maven. We don't deal with Maven directory since we have no experience of it.

Do we still need to make a new release?

Ok revert your last change in the maven repo. I looked at the build files to see how the resources are copied and it seems we are lucky, it will probably get the first copy for the connection-factory from AS itself. Don't cut another release for that.

Make a JIRA to correct it in the next JBM release (and remove the AS copy then).

If you want to add example you'll have to add them to the AS sources (and again make a note to remove them in the next JBM release, likewise).
