It's very important the version number is incremented on each release.
my bad: I thought the incrementingVersion was a kind of qualifier version[1].
In fact, it is the *protocol* version. I've updated the release check list to ensure we do not forget to increment it next time.

Yes it gets changed on each release

It's just the code name for the release.
