2. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
junli10 Apr 19, 2005 2:20 PM (in response to junli10)JBoss-Cache1.2.2.
I'm running under Solaris SPARC 5.8.
Thanks. -

ben.wang Apr 22, 2005 11:48 AM (in response to junli10)I really don't understand why plain.bsh has anything to do with aop? Can you try out your exercise on Windows first?

4. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
junli10 Apr 22, 2005 12:06 PM (in response to junli10)I downloaded a previous version at the bottom of wiki page http://www.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossCache. It worked after some adjustment.
I tried hard to see the difference between this previous version and 1.2.2. Looks like beanshell jars are repackaged. But it still doen't work after I switched the jars.
You guys should spend some time to fix this. It may affect user acceptance for Jboss-Cache. -
5. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
ben.wang Apr 22, 2005 12:12 PM (in response to junli10)Thanks for the info. The attachment under Wiki is outdated. Unfortunately, there is no good way to remove it. But I will our admin to do it.

6. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
junli10 Apr 22, 2005 1:49 PM (in response to junli10)I think you misunderstood me. The attachment under Wiki is the one which works. The demo in your latest release (1.2.2) doesn't work at least for Solaris.

7. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
ben.wang Apr 23, 2005 1:08 PM (in response to junli10)Oops! I did. :-)
After doubleing checking the 1.2.2 release, there is a mixed up in the runShellDemo.sh and runShellDemo.bat.
To fix that, please add jboss-j2se.jar to the class path in both scripts and you will be running fine.
This is because jboss-j2ee.jar has been split into both j2ee and j2se.jars very recently.
I will update it.
Thanks,
-Ben -
8. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
junli10 Apr 25, 2005 9:11 AM (in response to junli10)That fixes it. Thanks Ben!
We're in the process of evaluating jboss-cache as secondary cache of hibernate. So far it (with aop) looks very interesting to us. I may raise more topics to discuss in both jboss-cache and hibernate areas later. -
9. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
ben.wang Apr 25, 2005 10:13 PM (in response to junli10)Keep in mind though you don't use JBossCacheAop with Hibernate. This is because Hibernate uses cache as a primitive in-memory store while itself tracks the object relationship. So there is no need for aop.

10. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
junli10 Apr 26, 2005 12:36 AM (in response to junli10)Thanks for your advise!
We're more interested in the feature of "fine-granularity (i.e., on a per-field basis) updates". I thought only JBossCacheAop has this feature and JBossCache doesn't have it. Is it the case? -
11. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
ben.wang Apr 26, 2005 1:48 AM (in response to junli10)That is true. But Hibernate will do both object relation management and per-field modification for you already, so there is no need to JBossCacheAop under there.

12. Re: Failed to aspectize class org.jboss.cache.TreeCache
junli10 Apr 26, 2005 9:26 AM (in response to junli10)I see. That's great to know. As you can tell, we're new on hibernate as well. Thanks Ben!
