1. Re: Eviction and cache access
ben.wang May 10, 2005 10:45 PM (in response to tcherel)1) It is "safe" but you can have a null value since it has been evicted.
2) Evict operation should not update the node time stamp again. So node "/a" is updated by some other means. Can this be just a wake-up interval timing thingie?

2. Re: Eviction and cache access
tcherel May 11, 2005 4:16 AM (in response to tcherel)Thanks for the answers.
1) So the evicted notification happens after it has been evicted? Is there any ways where I can get an "aboutToBeEvicted" where I know for sure that everything is still in the cache and can be accessed?
2) That is what I thought. I was just surprised that /a was not evicted at the same time as /a/b and /a/c. But this is not causing me any problems, I just wanted to understand exactly how it is working.

Any answers on my last question or is the question stupid and I should go back to reading the documentation?

4. Re: Eviction and cache access
ben.wang May 17, 2005 11:04 AM (in response to tcherel)Thomas,
If preEvict event is important to you, you can create a Jira task (jira.jboss.com) under JBossCache module. Please specify your use case, Bela and I will take a look to decide.
It is trivial to include this event. Question is we don't want to pollute the TreeCacheListener unless we have a good use case.

I created the JIRA entry: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBCACHE-159

It does except that I'd like the beforeRemove as well.
I do not believe that I have the JIRA rights to "merge" the two issues, but if I do I can certainly take care of it.
