How to get modalPanel content reRendered before showing ?

I have a modalPanel to set a parameter ("filter").
The paramter should be actualized in the modalPanel ("modalPanel:filterInput").
Looks like the reRender="modalPanel:filterInput" doesn't work ...

Never used it before ...
There's nothing in it.
Have I done it correctly ?

bean-scope was "request"

I have lots off "pain" with the same problem.
In podal panel put some container component (a.k. PanelGrid) and reRender them

example modal panel
