Explanation of up_thread / down_thread

Is there any documentation available explaining the use of up_thread / down_thread attributes and how they affect JBoss Cache's performance? I have been unable to find any documentation from either the JBoss and JGroups documentation.

I am using jboss-cache-1.4.1.GA and jgroups-2.4.1

With JBC you want to set up_thread="false" down_thread="false" on all protocols. Note the defaults are "true" so you have to specify it.
