The key has to be absolute time, whereas you're giving it a relative time:child.put(ExpirationAlgorithmConfig.EXPIRATION_KEY, 100);
And @mjdinsmore, it's not the same issue that you have in the other forum entry -

saylor09 Jul 22, 2009 11:19 AM (in response to saylor09)Yup. I realized that later on. I set absolute time and it still doesn't work. I tried infinispan and it works fine there.
