I was running into weird connection reset errors when using the Microsoft SQL Server driver (with JBoss/Hibernate) and couldn't figure the problem until I realized that I had Norton Internet Security running.
The SQL Server blank password intrusion detection is blocking connection traffic which causes problems somewhere in the driver or in the JBoss connection wrapper/pool.
This particular intrusion is easily disabled and everything is fine now...
OK, back to work.
