What kind of answer is this? I too am having difficulties getting going with JBoss and am finding that the docs and these forums are (for the most part) an exercise for my patience.
So... if "yes" is the answer - what exactly is missing? -

jbossnz Jun 19, 2003 8:20 PM (in response to tljohnson)The tomcat directory is the structure used in jboss2.4 etc.
In jboss3.2.1-tomcat the servlet container runs as an MBean service in the file/directory deploy/jbossweb-tomcat.sar -

gooperaus Jun 20, 2003 4:19 AM (in response to tljohnson)When I copy a war file into the hot-deploy directory of the jboss3.2, it doesn't work, why?

russellsimpkins Jul 8, 2003 8:23 AM (in response to tljohnson)did you purchase the docs? That is how they make their dough. The book is only $10 and may just answer your questions. The link is usually in the ad banner to the right. Heck, where else can you get a real J2ee server for just $10. I spend more then that on lunch most days.

russellsimpkins Jul 8, 2003 9:28 AM (in response to tljohnson)FYI, i just dl the latest jboss w/tomcat jboss-3.2.1_tomcat-4.1.24. I started the default by running run.bat on my xp pro system. to test tomcat, i created a war of my examples app that shipped with tomcat using 'jar -cf examples.war examples' I then copy that war to c:/jboss-3.2.1_tomcat-4.1.24/server/default/deploy I wait a couple of seconds and whala.... jboss automatically deploys the app. It is available via http://localhost:8080/examples.
From what I remember, you don't deploy web apps in a webapps folder. You only deploy them in war format. There may be other ways to deploy, but I don't know of any. -

tsstsc Jul 9, 2003 12:24 AM (in response to tljohnson)Hi,
I'm new to that jboss-tomcat bundle too. does that mean that everything we create, that is, jsp and servlets and html should be in war, and ejb in jar, and we just dump everything in that server\default\deploy folder? How do i check if they are working? http://localhost:8080/what to check?
Thanks -

smileyq Jul 23, 2003 2:03 PM (in response to tljohnson)There are deployment tools such as Apache Ant etc.. but you can always just use jar -cvf webapp.war * etc.. to create your .war file.
