    JMX book

    fmardones

I bought "Comprehensive Documentation 12 Month Subscription", but I don't have the JMX book. It's supposed that its included, as I know...

      What happened?

The JMX book is not included with the subscription. You need to purchase it separately.

I quote from the jboss.org/docs page, 12-month subscription section:

"...you get access to ALL our documentation ALL the time"

This sounds like a great deal until you find out that "ALL" really means "only the 4 cheapest ($10) books, but not the $30 JMX book". $40 not $70.

This isn't apparent if you just click straight through to the purchase page. It's only apparent by examining a side-page after you click "Buy Now" and examine the names of the PDF files that will be included in the download, and happen to notice that none of them have JMX in the filename. I'm betting most people trust the text on the JBoss docs page, and just click "Buy". This got me, too.

Come on, guys, can we be a little more honest here? I realize you need to sell documentation and services around open source products to make it viable, but let's not stoop to misleading/fine-print marketing.

The JMX book only exists in print. There has never been a PDF version of it for sale.

The JBoss document subscription includes all JBoss documentation (as PDF files). The JMX book is a book about JMX and not specific to JBoss. Hope that clears it up. The flashline page clearly shows what you get with the subscription.

There is no attempt at dishonesty as you imply.

                Hi
I want to buy the JMX book and want as much of my money to go to the JBoss group. Is there any difference in your share whether I buy the book on Sam's ($35) or Bookpool.com (Bookpool sells the book for around $20)

                thanks
                Morten

It makes no difference to me. I hope you enjoy the book.

JB4 is on the verizon and all the docs that go with it... Soo, right now seems like a great time to go with the 12 monther - 3.x now and 4 down the line. And for the people concerned about no JMX book, there is an entire chapter (78 pages) dedicated to it in the "JBoss Administration and Development 2nd Ed." book.

                    Just my 2C..

                    cheers.
