I haven't seen the UNIX version of the documentation but I think the difference between the two versions would lie in the delivery mechanism that Component Source uses to deliver the PDF documentation from their servers onto your desktop. In the Windows version anyway, you don't download the documentation directly but rather download a small application that downloads the files for you.
