Mark an object so it cannot be replicated

I would like to mark an entire object so that it is persisted but not replicated. When I modify any fields on the object they should follow the fine grained persistence rules, etc. Is there any way I can do that?

That means I would need to have more than one cache because I also have objects I want replicated. Seems like a lot of overhead for what I need. If I have two cache instances, can they both be configured to use the same persistent store without any issues? Seems like @DontReplicate (or something like that) would be a lot easier on me ;)
