1. Re: How do I get involved with helping create modules?
thepriz Feb 24, 2004 11:47 AM (in response to thepriz)Well, no one really answered this question so I went ahead and began porting the postnuke downloads module. I should have a beta version of the module finished by the end of this week (depending on the amount of time I have to work on it). I did the port like the faq and poll modules. I have heard some talk about using templates to do modules. Is there any information on using templates or can someone point me to an example of how to use them?
Thanks,
Dennis Przybyla -

julien1 Feb 24, 2004 12:02 PM (in response to thepriz)look at the modules in the core, most of them make usage of templates.
faq and poll have already been ported, unfortunately they don't have a good design enough to be in the 1.0 release.
you can improve them for the 1.x versions. -
3. Re: How do I get involved with helping create modules?
thepriz Feb 24, 2004 12:41 PM (in response to thepriz)I know they are already ported. I used them to learn how to create modules for nukes. If they are not well designed what improvements do they need? I don't want to use the bad design in my downloads module.
Thanks,

4. Re: How do I get involved with helping create modules?
jae77 Feb 24, 2004 12:46 PM (in response to thepriz)one of my goals in refactoring the news module to use templates is to provide some kind of "framework" that make using templates easy.
check out the wiki site under the theme howto - it's very sparse at the moment, but i'm adding notes as i go along.
for right now, your best bet is to check out the BBTheme and try to follow what's going on in there. i've already started the work to extract that code to be part of the framework, but i'm still a ways off from being ready to commit any changes. -

that's why we have refactoring. :) get it working first, then go back and clean up your design. -
