Help with Install on Windows XP

    m_veloso

      Hi,

I'm trying to install JBMS in Windows XP.

      - Install direct from site
      - Generate datasource Hypersonic (DefaultDS)
      - In "Server Name Configuration"
      . Local Domain#1 = mydomain
      . Server Name = smtp.mydomain
      . Server Bind = 0.0.0.0
      . Postmaster = postmaster@mydomain
      - Put in "DNS Configuration" the dns servers of "mydomain" registered in zoneedit.com site
      - In "SMTP Relaying" check "Allow.." and put 4 frequently used domain (like hotmail.com, gmail.com).
      - In "SMTP Service" accept all default options but "Verify Identity"
      - In "SMTP Route" all blanck

After installation I can connect using Outlook Express and send email, but i can't receive any one, even when I send to me. I can connect to pop and smtp servers from outside my intranet using telnet, it's mean that my servers are accessible, but it can receive or send email from any domains i have tested.

In command window of run.bat I can see the message error:
Unable to deliver message to local user: myuser@mydomain. Unknown user.
myuser is a Windows Administrator user.

      What I miss? :(

      Appreciate your help.
      Thank's

      Marcus

Did you add a user mailbox and alias as in the install instructions? I dont see that in your steps above. What version are you running?

            Jason,

I'm using version M5. During install I created user "myuser", it's my administrator login in Windows XP-SP2.
I did not create datasource or database because I chose "Generate datasource Hypersonic". It's correct?

            Thank's

                check out...

                http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=HowToInstallJBossMailServer1.0M5

search/or scroll the page to "mailboxmanager" area.

damn, I hate these forums, whatever there doing, you can't select crap for text, I was going to be nice, and put the gist of it here for you, but sorry, the forums layout/document sucks...

Basically check out at very bottom of above link, section"Creating mailboxes and aliases"

you open http://localhost:8080 or whatever your mail server will resolve to, then you select the link at bootom of intranet page...jmx console

from there you search page for "mailboxmanager"

                click link

                go to create mailbox

                create a mailbox for "test_user"

scroll back to top of doc, where it says, and I can never remember which, but getMailBoxbyAlias, put the name test_user in there, should return two or three, depending on Mail server version, if not, run the other method that looks same

then go to create alias, put that mailbox id in there, and test_user@wherever.com

BAM, your done, should work now, BTW...check your logs, and you see wether or not it knows who the user is when connecting, you'll see "Rcpt to:" blah@blah
                OK

                good luck!

If you use hpyersonic...do not "generate" just leave everything default. This is in the FAQ on the wiki. Generate hypersonic generates a DS for a REMOTE hypersonic. It cannot be called DefaultDS as that would interfere with the default local hypersonic. Sorry...it is confusing.
