Why does not it work

According to http://jboss.sourceforge.net/doc-24/ch02s02.html $JBOSS_DIST/lib is the location that has literally the following role:

"This is the deployment directory. Just drop your JAR and EAR files here and they will be deployed automatically"

Unfortunately this is not what happens when I proceed as the above instruction. Is there some configuration task, adjustment procedures or somethig else that should be perfom previously in order to let that resource functional?

Errr... I suggest you re-read the document. The description you give applies to the "deploy" directory.
