1. Re: Could not find jboss-build.properties under j2ee tutoria
cehjohnson Apr 19, 2005 6:19 AM (in response to kinnerak)The whole thing looks like a mess. Perhaps we've got the wrong archive(s) but that's just one of the problems i've found too. This is part of what i was intending to post somewhere:
(Quoting from http://docs.jboss.org/jbossas/getting_started/startguide40/dukesbank.html#d0e1044)
Before we can build, you'll need to edit the jboss-build.properties file in the j2eetutorial14 to point to your JBoss install directory
There is no file of that name. The file with the jboss.home property in it is build.properties, in <J2EETUTORIAL14_INSTALL_DIR> and contains, in the JBoss 1.4 version, incorrectly:
jboss.home=-- FIXME: Point to JBoss 3.2.x installation
which should of course be something more like:
jboss.home=-- FIXME: Point to JBoss 4.x.y installation -

Indeed it looks as though we have! For JBoss 4 you need to use this:

Err... not quite. At least not for me and this other guy. The configuration + configuration instructions for hsqldb-ds.xml seem to be wrong. See

If you need further clarification (it's in German) let me know -
5. Re: Could not find jboss-build.properties under j2ee tutoria
norman.richards Apr 19, 2005 12:03 PM (in response to kinnerak)I didn't check the URL, but I do know that many people make a mistake at that point and take out the service internal hypersonic service, causing the dependency to break. That should definitely be more clear, as many people seem confused about it. But, it does work...

6. Re: Could not find jboss-build.properties under j2ee tutoria
alphaman26 Apr 20, 2005 6:37 AM (in response to kinnerak)I think the tutorial says to download the duke bank example of 1.3 and not 1.4. I found jboss-build.properties as it was told under the examples directory as well as the bank directory.

I wonder if you'd be kind enough to clarify this? I did comment out:<mbean code="org.jboss.jdbc.HypersonicDatabase" name="jboss:service=Hypersonic,database=localDB"> <attribute name="Database">localDB</attribute> <attribute name="InProcessMode">true</attribute> </mbean>
originally as it did not seem to be relevant to the service running on 1701. Putting it back in again now, after applying the fix described in my link http://tinyurl.com/796dt causes it to fall over again.
I don't seem to be getting email notifications btw... -
8. Re: Could not find jboss-build.properties under j2ee tutoria
norman.richards Apr 20, 2005 10:30 AM (in response to kinnerak)I don't know anything about the context of the discussion at that URL. What are you trying to "fix" with the instructions at that URL? But I do know that if you have the service jboss:service=Hypersonic, database=localDB installed then you won't be hitting problems of unmet dependencies on it.

9. Re: Could not find jboss-build.properties under j2ee tutoria
cehjohnson Apr 20, 2005 11:58 AM (in response to kinnerak)I may be being thick and missing something, but i've just applied the instructions in the tutorial meticulously with regard to editing hsqldb-ds.xml. Doing so causes JB to fall over. Applying the fix rectifies the problem
Norman, if you'd like to maybe post a link to the edited file, i can give it a try
