Quick question on Linux and JBoss

To all,

I've got a question, I have setup a Linux server (Linux 8), but it has only console mode features (ie. doesn't have a GUI interface)

so I would like to know if I need to have GUI features in order to install and deploy JBoss .... since some tools are GUI based..... and actually I wonder if I could load mozilla under a console mode....

If I need to add back the GUI interface, are there any methods except to re-install the Linux8 ??? (If so I've got some data backups to do....)

PS. I'm a beginner on Linux too, so I don't know if the above questions are a bit strange to you all...

Hi;
You do NOT need gui to install or run jboss. The latest gui installer is not required and was not even around before 4.0.3, and is still 'work in progress' anyhow.

but is it some of the tools (for server administration) must be run in web browsers (like mozilla)?

if so, then I at least need the x-window package to run a GUI browser..... I was wondering if I could run commands to perform the same tasks too

What tools u mean? Normally nothing forces u to have GUI when configuring the server.

configuration, not need any tool. as long as you can understand the flow of Jboss intract with EJB, JSP and your database. it will get a well done setting.

Oh, but as a newbie, I'm not skillful in Unix environment as well as the JBoss's admin envrionment, so I think I will start from using the GUI tools (like WebLogic has its own web admin console using a web browser)
