deploying a web application in Java EE

hi all,
this is my first post and i am new to Java EE. I've successfully installed the JBoss server and done the simple hello world test, everything works fine. i am curently studying "Begining Java EE 5" (apress) by Mukhar and Zelenak(for those who might have the book). The problem i have is deploying an app in Java EE. it's going on about ensure the sun application server is running(presumably JBOSS) and then stert up Sun Java EE Deployment tool. What is the Deployment tool? where can i find it? the book says that it was introduced in chapter 2 but i can't see it.....i'm new to the EE sise of thing can enyone help?

Dear Mat,

Java EE is an specification and an API. There are several vendors that actually implement the API. JBoss application server is just one. The book you are describing explains how to use Sun's implementation. JBoss' equivalent tool might be the JBoss plugin for Eclipse IDE. You could of course do all the configuring by editing files yourself; this is what I do. That is just my Slackware side comming out. But these tools are not part of the Java EE spec.
