Why parsing of the response with tidy is needed on ajax requ

Why parsing of the response with tidy is needed on ajax requests?
I've read documentation about it, but it doesn't explain clearly in which cases
it can be disabled. When I disable tidy response area is not re-rendered.
Tidying response on the other hand consumes most of CPU and response time. Can it be fixed in Richfaces?

If you write a correct xhtml code and use components that produce the correct code also, the response will be OK and tidy is not required.

"Correct" meaning well-formed or there is more to it?
How can I find out offending component which is making it "incorrect"
(what is the best way)?

More to it. For example, table without tbody is incorrect.
