parki Nov 6, 2007 8:23 AM (in response to parki)Hi Ilya - thanks for the reply.
So, if I understand everything correctly, I simply need to wire the action of the command button to a backing bean which will send my data bean (with 'first' and 'last') to the database to be updated - is this the general way of doing things?
Your help is really appreciated.

parki Nov 6, 2007 8:48 AM (in response to parki)Hi Ilya -
Do I use an 'action' event and return null from the method, or do I use an 'actionListener'? Is there a fundamental difference?
It's starting to make sense (and it's extremely impressive) but I'm lacking in good (ie. simple :) examples.
Thanks Ilya.

5. Re: Simple question on page update stuff
parki Nov 6, 2007 9:52 AM (in response to parki)Aha!
I used a <h:commandButton> and it does a refresh. Changed this to an <a4j:commandButton> and is does *exactly* what I needed - the 'action' method implementation returns null, and this is working well.
Question still remains in my mind - what would be the difference between an action method and an actionListener.
Many thanks Ilya - another hurdle overcome.
