Adding parameter to action in suggestionbox

Is there a way to add a parameter to the action when looking up the list for the suggestionbox? I would like to look up the suggestion list depending on what was typed in another text field on the page. Is this ppossible?

Could you be a little more specific please. I am new to richfaces. How do you use f:param with the suggestionbox?
