julien1 Jun 9, 2004 8:54 AM (in response to bstadnik)try to download the JBoss bundled version and see if it works. This one contains an embeded and preconfigured database. Then you can compare the two installations to see if there are no mismatch.

slaboure Jun 9, 2004 9:00 AM (in response to bstadnik)Julien,
Do we have a xxx.war or xxx.sar standalone version that people can simply download and drop in any jboss instance? That is what people need I guess, is this available for download?
Cheers,

3. Re: Installation help. Followed directions exactly.
julien1 Jun 9, 2004 9:11 AM (in response to bstadnik)it exists for hsqldb.
for mysql it is not fully possible, users have to configure the datasource and download the driver from the mysql website, then configure the database etc... when an external database is used it is not simple as when it is standalone -

julien1 Jun 9, 2004 10:44 AM (in response to bstadnik)http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=22866&package_id=84509&release_id=162958
you can find :- Nukes bundled with JBoss (hsqldb)
- Nukes for MySQL database which need more work : download JBoss-3.2.3, create the database, install the datasource in JBoss

slaboure Jun 9, 2004 12:25 PM (in response to bstadnik)Yes, but it contains the full JBoss, right, not simply the Nukes service?

jae77 Jun 9, 2004 12:33 PM (in response to bstadnik)yes, if you are downloading the hsqldb version of it.
there is always going to be a little setup required if you are using mysql b/c you have to create the database and the appropriate user.
most of the modules being "offically" released have been converted to "pure" cmp so that ppl don't need to run ddl scripts to setup tables. the only outstanding issue from having everything "pure" cmp is there is no way to create an unique constraint on a column (but that can be overcome (i think, need to test) by specifying an "alter table" command in the post-table-create tag in xdoclet).
once that's done, ppl should be able to download binaries and drop them right in. -
8. Re: Installation help. Followed directions exactly.
julien1 Jun 9, 2004 2:05 PM (in response to bstadnik)yes because it contains the default database as well.

bstadnik Jun 9, 2004 3:34 PM (in response to bstadnik)Ok, thanks for the quick responses. I pulled down the standalone and was running into the same problems. I deinstalled everything and reinstalled. Still no luck. I did the old windows trick and rebooted the whole machine. When I brought it back up I tried again. Walla - it worked.
So, turns out when I was dealing with the mysql connector error from earlier, I wasn't shutting down every process. When I looked at the logs, it was failing to start processes because the port was already in use (4444, 1098 and one other). I'm assuming I had it really confused. I'm trying to figure out the shutdown.sh now to figure out how to do it more cleanly. Ought to be some kinda 'shutdown all' flag or something .
Anyway, thanks for all the help. I'm going to try to install some of the extra modules now. BTW, I don't mind running the DDL to build the supporting tables. I'm sure the cmp you are talking about is going to be really good though. I find the builds are usually where I get screwed up. Probably, just because Iprimarily use to the interpreted scripting languages (PERL, etc.) I guess I have a lot to learn so I'm sure I'll run into you all again!
Thanks,
Brian.
